Detroit Metro Kids was founded by Heather Bragg of Bragg Media LLC — just as she and her family (husband, Mike, son, Griffin, and daughter, Amelia) uprooted their lives from coastal South Carolina’s Lowcountry to the bustling area of metro Detroit.
In an area with more than 4.3 million people, it can be easy to feel disconnected. That’s why Heather wanted to create an online space for anyone struggling to find their place in the great state of Michigan.

Many wonderful writers contribute to Detroit Metro Kids. A special shout-out to Mike Bragg, who created the logo, and Ashley Francis, a writer who has enjoyed exploring Michigan as much as the Braggs.
Heather created a similar website called Lowcountry Child in 2009 — and found that many people have seen it as a valuable resource for finding local family-friendly activities. While the Braggs lived in the Lowcountry for 20+ years, they’re excited about the next chapter of their lives in metro Detroit Michigan, where they are closer to family.
